Trump’s Golden White House

Trump’s Golden White House

Share:

A great lover of gold, President Trump has been adding golden flourishes throughout the White House, redecorating it in the style of his Mar-a-Lago Florida club.

The Oval Office now glitters with gold. The president has added gold carvings onto the fireplace mantel and on the wall above. Seven gold vases and urns sit atop the mantle, replacing plants that decorated the space during President Biden’s years in the White House.

Florida cabinetmaker John Icart, known as the president’s “gold guy” for his work at Mar-a-Lago, added the gilded carvings for the mantel, as well as gold-finished molding  for the Oval Office, according to The Wall Street Journal. A copy of the Declaration of Independence—framed in gold—hangs on the wall.

The president brought gold cherubs from Mar-a-Lago as decorations, and now has a gold Trump crest above the door leading into the White House The Journal reported, citing a recent visitor.

Golden Trump beverage coasters are in use, and gold details have been added to the table in the president’s private dining room, adjacent to the Oval Office.

“It’s the Golden Office for the Golden Age,”  White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told The Journal.

“People have tried to come up with a gold paint that would look like gold, and they have never been able to do it. You’ve never been able to match gold with gold paint,” Trump told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham as he gave her a tour of the White House in March. “That’s why it’s gold,” he said, referring to the gold additions to the Oval Office.
